The inspiration behind Pottery North
Pottery North was founded by Northumberland-based arts' event organiser and journalist Lesley McNish, after noticing observed a gap in the region for a dedicated festival celebrating pottery, ceramics, and glass. As the founder of the award-winning art and craft events' organisation The Tin Shed, which already engages many local ceramicists, potters, and glassmakers, the idea for a specific pottery fair began to take shape a few years ago. After a dedicated search for the perfect launch venue, plans are now firmly underway, with more details to be revealed soon.

Supported by The Tin Shed
Pottery North is proudly supported by The Tin Shed, which was recently awarded Best Art and Crafts Events' Organisation Northeast 2025 in the SME annual Business Awards. The Tin Shed successfully stages numerous arts' events across Northumberland and the Scottish Borders.
Beyond an annual festival, Pottery North is committed to hosting smaller, regular pottery fairs and exhibitions throughout the region, creating continuous opportunities for our creative community.

Our dedicated team
Pottery North will be led by The Tin Shed's Creative Director, Lesley McNish. However, the true driving force behind our initiatives will always be the talented potters, ceramicists, and glassmakers who participate in our events and contribute to our growing online community. Their passion and creativity are at the heart of everything we do. Lesley also just happens to have a lifelong obsession with ceramics and glass!
"Pottery North will help showcase the work of many talented potters and glassmakers, strengthening our creative community."
